The research focuses of the Institute of Midwifery Science include research on the evidence of clinical processes in obstetrics, evaluation of obstetric, family-oriented care by midwives, digitalization in the context of midwifery, academization and professionalization of the midwifery profession, teaching research in the skills lab and in obstetric simulation training and augmented and virtual reality in academic midwifery training.

Another focus is the health care situation of pregnant women and young mothers from marginalized and vulnerable groups over the period of pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
